The Greater Hazelwood area comprises four small neighborhoods: Glen Hazel, Glenwood, Hazelwood, and Riverside.

Situated on the northern shore of the Monongahela River, Hazelwood once had a booming business district, boasting three supermarkets, two theaters, and numerous other thriving businesses. With the close of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Mill, this prosperity began to fade into the past. Recent changes, such as future development of the former LTV site, the Waterfront development in Homestead, and the South Side Works development, have put Hazelwood in a position to reinvent itself and flourish once again.
